having a little adventure in the mountains.

We went up the mountains to stay at a National Park. We went to two National Parks actually but i liked the first camp we went to because its peaceful.  The other camp we went to was horrible because it was so crowded  by the beach on the lake - but i loved the cabins and ice cream in the park shop were huge. The ice creams tasted so good. The two cabins we had rented at each national park looked exactly the same as each other which is cool and weird:). So, we were planing on to go on the canoe trip. For 6 miles so we picked which paddle and life jacket to get.then we hopped in the car to to the place to start.It took a little while to get there but it was worth it.It was very calm on the water which was great. but at the end a storm came and i got scared because it took ages to get home.when we got home i was relieved because i thought we were lost. I tried to catch fire flies - when they glow you just go close to them and then you catch them. You need to search for them around twilight - when its just getting dark. 

At the Twin lakes park we had a lot of Amish people living next to us. We think they might have been millers - because Amish people don't use electricity or cars, but these people did. They were dressed like they lived 100 years ago, even the little kids.

We had a fire and made some marshmallows. We then went to the park camp fire. The lady told us a few stories and I made smores.  I first had smores last year at Richard's place in Virginia and I love them. They have chocolate and gooey marshmallow between two salted crackers. 

Seeing Grandpa and Ree has been great. Its like normal life but more exciting. I like being here because I don't go to school everyday and we have exciting adventure. My whole like is adventure but I especially loved canoeing down the river.

we were going for a road trip to a camp. I was really excited to go because i haven't gone to a camp before and the cabin was huge. It had two bunk beds in one room which was crazy because i got two bunk beds in my room at my home! Also it had a huge kitchen and i liked that a lot because we can store a lot of food but the  problem was that we were staying there only for two nights then going.

This was the first day still and there was a beautiful river called the St. James River that we wanted to canoe down. But only  hugo couldn't go because he was to young. So, i chose 2 people to go wth me, grandpa and grandma, so i can spend a huge day with them. We had to go in a van for 8 miles. He dropped us off. We did an 8 mile ride in the canoe. We were having so much fun. We saw cat fish which was cool. After 30 minutes we got a bit tired of paddling and we found a tiny beach to have a swim, relax and have a little fun. Then canoe again every 30 minutes down the river we stopped at a tiny beach. We were nearly there and i felt really tired and started to get bored.. But then there was a thunder storm coming and the wind was getting stronger and stronger. It  pushed us backwards and then we finallyy made it and i saw mum waving hands at me.

On the second day, it was mums turn to have a canoe ride. She was excited, but this time we were only for going for 2 miles.

We started a fire to cook some chicken. While the fire was started, hugo and me went to find some rabbits. They are so cute!  we couldnt touch any rabbits because they just ran away from us.

While the chicken was getting cooked, the fire flies started to glow. They only glow for a short time around twilight.   I was trying to catch so many fire flies. It was so cool. Then it was dinner time.

I have never tried peach before but when I tried one I just wanted more and more! 

We went to a another park because we wanted to stay longer in the hills. So we went this park and we went to the beach and but it was crowded like Brazil. We went on a paddle boat which was really boring in so many different ways. Then we went for ice cream and  they were huge i could only eat half of it! And that was just one scoop of icecream. In America, everything is bigger. And they say its better.

Also it was Hugo's birthday and we had cupcakes which were awesome and yuuuuuummmmmy! We got so many presents for Hugo it was so such fun.
