This is grandpa and grandma's house. They made it themselves which sounds pretty amazing if i say so. Grandpa has a crafting place at the bottom of the house which is pretty cool. At the top of the house theres a tv, two couches, double bed, bath room and lastly a kitchen. We have a lot of fun here.
we also have a friend called Chip he let us go into his pool to have a swim.I did front flips, dives and my favourite CANNON BALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!The water gets cold some times and i'm scared to jump in because I would get really cold some times.
We would do some fishing from time to time which was a bit fun. We would do it on Richard's dock. We would catch pretty big fish together. If they were big enough grandpa would cook them on the bbq. Thats the first time I ever like fish to eat. One fish was called a croaker and it was a talking fish. It croaked.
A sign said fruit this way so we were driving through and we saw this creepy house and we were still driving to the house and i was creeped out then we saw this guy law mowing and a sign said beep your horn so we did and he helped us to the fruit.
This is were we sometimes we buy fruit or vegetable to eat but what we were really coming for was PEACHES!!!!I would do any thing to get my hands on some peaches. I sometimes dribble from peach!
We also drove 3 hours to stay at a friends house for one night at Virginia Beach. i was like can't we stay for more a couple more days! But except for that had a fantactic time. We went to the beach then had a nice meal.
We drove the to Eastern Seaboard - the other side of the chesapeake. We hired a house at Tilghmans Island. we went walking around the street at the houses and stuff. I loved the house with the spa and everything. We did lots of walking and some driving. It was an old fishermans town. They caught lots of crab here. Maree made crab cakes.
when we went walking i found this funny mermaid thing which was really funny photo so thats why i had to put it on to my blog;]
boat to boat
i love this photo what i called boat to boat it was beautiful sky and the reflection is wonderful ; )) These boats are crab boats.
I like this photo because it is funny. It's funny because you can see my butt crack.. well back to the life - not how it's funny
This is me and grandpa putting the sails quickly because we might fall off the boat. It was great helping grandpa sail the boat.
This is one of my favourite places. It was such a beautiful beach we anchored at. We anchored here, and we found a lot of things, crab skeletons and a dead puffer fish and lots of different things. This beach was where John Smith, who met Pocohontus was stabbed by a stingray barb, and then the Indians saved him with their local medicine. We played lots of games. We used sticks as guns and mum played as well. It was really fun.
This is us in the dinghy, Most afternoons, after we have anchored, we would then explore the bays in our dinghy. I got so bored and Hugo starts falling asleep for hours. But we explore ,go really fast and meet people. Dad, Ree and Mum really liked the dinghy rides.
this is down stairs were we sleep and draw most of the time. thats hugo with the helmet on.
I love everything about Grandpa. Grandpa makes the boat and the dinghy. It took him about three years to make the boat. Grandpa is a happy chappy. He loves playing with us. When I think about grandpa I think he is an exciting person. Because he loves adventures and trips. Ree played lots of cards with me while we were on the boat. And we played Monopoly. I think Ree is exciting because the plays with me and she is a really great cook. She made some great meals. I love Ree becuase she is always there for me.
This is me on the sails. I really love it, and its really relaxing. When I am by myself, I can really relax sitting here - reading a book, or playing on my Ipad. The boat is really fantastic. When I go, I will really miss it. The best thing about sailing is that you have freedom to go anywhere around the rivers and you can explore. I would love to do it again.
We went up the mountains to stay at a National Park. We went to two National Parks actually but i liked the first camp we went to because its peaceful. The other camp we went to was horrible because it was so crowded by the beach on the lake - but i loved the cabins and ice cream in the park shop were huge. The ice creams tasted so good. The two cabins we had rented at each national park looked exactly the same as each other which is cool and weird:). So, we were planing on to go on the canoe trip. For 6 miles so we picked which paddle and life jacket to get.then we hopped in the car to to the place to start. It took a little while to get there but it was worth it.It was very calm on the water which was great. but at the end a storm came and i got scared because it took ages to get home.when we got home i was relieved because i thought we were lost. I tried to catch fire flies - when they glow you just go close to them and then you catch them. You need to search for them around twilight - when its just getting dark.
At the Twin lakes park we had a lot of Amish people living next to us. We think they might have been millers - because Amish people don't use electricity or cars, but these people did. They were dressed like they lived 100 years ago, even the little kids.
We had a fire and made some marshmallows. We then went to the park camp fire. The lady told us a few stories and I made smores. I first had smores last year at Richard's place in Virginia and I love them. They have chocolate and gooey marshmallow between two salted crackers.
Seeing Grandpa and Ree has been great. Its like normal life but more exciting. I like being here because I don't go to school everyday and we have exciting adventure. My whole like is adventure but I especially loved canoeing down the river.
On the second day, it was mums turn to have a canoe ride. She was excited, but this time we were only for going for 2 miles.
We started a fire to cook some chicken. While the fire was started, hugo and me went to find some rabbits. They are so cute! we couldnt touch any rabbits because they just ran away from us.
I have never tried peach before but when I tried one I just wanted more and more!
When we got to America we stayed at the airport hotel in Washington DC till the morning then Grandpa and Marie met us in front of the hotel. Then we did a 3 hour drive to their house so we stayed at the house in till the next day.
The next day we went on their boat what they made what looks beautiful. We stayed on the boat for 5 days. Also we had a beach right next to us so we went on the beach for 3 hours and we got really sun burnt and it felt so bad! it stopped after 4 days. The best about the beach is the tiny little jelly fish and they don't sting at all except for the big ones but i hold the small ones and they feel so good. I think the boat is really fun. I feel more alive when I am on the boat. This is because you get more fresh air, and you see nature, and birds and the wind. You live outside a lot and I really like this. I haven't been fishing yet because there are no fish. Yesterday when we went to the beach there were dogs on the beach. To me they look like they had rabies but Marie really liked to play with them.
The boat is a lot of fun! We swim, i draw, Hugo plays and the adults read. My favourite thing to do on the boat is jumping off the boat and swimming. We have so much to do we can't even choose what to do! It is that much fun.
I don't know how they fit this much food on the boat because we have fantastic breakfast, lunch and finally dinner. It was still Hugo's birthday and we still had presents to give to Hugo. One of the presents i liked was the remote control car. It was the best of all! Hugo loved it as well. He loved it so much he could kiss it.
Grandpa and Grandma brought there dinghy with them. I like to go on beaches because we don't just go on the boat. We play at the beach as well. Hugo loves the beach. His favourite thing is to make sandcastles with mum and me.
we walk on the beaches also. We also found a lot of jelly fish - the small little rivers, every three seconds we see five jellyfish. It is amazing.
I love drawing. I could draw any thing at all! Well, not every thing i can draw... well um...hmm...well every thing...
This is Tylianna. You can see the name under the flag. Grandpa and Mum sailed Tylianna from Sydney when she was my age. I love sitting on the sails. When we start to sail the anchor go's up and it's dirty, so i clean it with the hose until it's clean. Also when we sail i stand up at the front of the boat.
But when were back it's a normal life again!!!!!!!!!!!!;0. This is grandpa's dock where Tylianna lives when its not sailing.
First we got in a train for forty minutes. Then we got out of the train. we went to the exit and we met a old friend called Hiroshi. I couldn't remember Hiroshi but couldn't because i saw him when i was 2 and i'm 10 now we went to his house and it was pretty huge.
The next day was so much fun we went to heaps of candy shops and a huge pond with lotus plants like the whole pond was field with them. We went to a Japanese restaurant we had a lot of Japanese food like dumpling, ramen, miso soup, sushi, and soba noodles. I love Japanese food because its so tasty. The ramen soups are my favourite because the soup has so much flavour and the noodles are so good.
We had lots of candy - big teddy candy lollies as big as my hand. Sour lollies that has grape flavour and watermelon flavour. They also had vending machines which were really good. In Australia there is not much vending machines, but in Japan they are everywhere. In the train stations we had to have a Japanese card to let us travel on the public transport. I could also use this for the vending machines. I was a little naughty and would get chocolate milks without asking mum. But it tasted so good!
The transport was really good and easy. Trains and buses. We also walked to some places as well. There were second hands shops that could sell electronics really cheap. Ipads could be so cheap. We eat great donuts at Mister Donuts. Mine was all chocolate icing with a chocolate buns.
We went to the zoo that was huge. We first went in and I thought it was small but then we looked at the map and we only did half the place. We saw nearly all the animals in the world from Madagascar to Australia, to China. There was a small animal that was half sugar glider and half kangaroo. I loved the zoo. Hugo loved the animals, he was so occupied.
He stayed at Hiroshi's house. It looked like a japanese ninja house. The beds were really hard on the floor, but I love hard beds. I slept very well. One day I woke up at 10 in the morning! Hiroshi's mums name was Hari san. Harisan was really sweet. When we left mum was crying and harisan was crying. Hugo loved harisan. It was like she was his grandma. Harisan got very active with Hugo.
Tokyo is amazing. Because it has everything that I love. I didn't really love vending machines as I had never used them before, but I loved them in Japan. Tokyo is amazing because the food is so good. We didn't have any duck, but it was still good. Duck is my favourite meat.
hiroshi and me made a ring and now i know how to make a cool ring but is so difficult.
When we left Uncle Greg's in Colorado, we went on a big road trip. We went to New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. It was really fun.
This is the body chopped in half and you could see everything that is going on inside a body. I saw the heart, the lungs, the stomach, veins, liver, small intestines and large intestine. We entered another room - it was a death room- and we had to enter a dark hallway. I was really scared and a little shocked. At the end of the hallway was a lot of bones, and displays of different death rituals that happen in different countries. It was a fantastic exhibition. Mum really wanted to go as she wrote about it in a thesis years ago.
We are in the south of Brazil. Brazil is in South America. We are here for a month.
we went to a burger restaurant which had the best burgers alive. hugo loved the place especially the burgers.
these are my friends Gabrielle and Marrie. there my neighbours and there fun.
This is Tylianna, the boat that Grandpa built when my mum was my age. It took grandpa a few years to build the boat and then they all went sailing around the world.
This is me steering. We went all through the little bays and coves. We saw lots of boats and wharfs and houses.
Grandpa and Ree live in Virginia in Lancaster County. The nearest town is called Lively. It about ten minutes drive away. To get to the bigger town, Kilmarnock, you have to catch a car ferry.
This is me playing guitar. This guitar is a famous guitar.
When we walk down the street there are always crumbling buildings like this one definitely not the ones in Australia the cars are really old here . In the early 60's there was a revolution and a man called Castro took over the government. Cuba became Communist. In communism, the government owns every thing and every body works for him.
The cars in Havana are very old. The insides are old as well, and they are broken apart but they still go. its hard to repair a car as in Cuba there a few shops to buy anything new. These cars are 60 years old, but they still work. They were very cool. We saw some amazing cars. There was this pink car that was awesome. The cars break down a lot. You can't buy new cars in Cuba, so they have to keep the old ones working. We hired an old car to get from place to place.
This is us sitting inside an old car. In front of us there is a bar to hang onto if we crash. There are no seat belts at all. Most people drive slow, but some fast. There are horses and carts on the road as well. There are lots of Cuban cowboys riding horses.
There was a big and small dog here. This little dogs name was Lia. We played tigi here and we patted the dog. The dog barked at Hugo.
Ofcourse cowboys have horses and there are cowboys here. We went on a horse ride. At first I wanted to go with Dad, becuase mum and dad said the horse might be too tall and I could fall. but then I got used to it, and went on my own. I also had my own camel in the Sahara and that was really tall. i went horseriding twice. My first horse was really slow and my second horse was really fast. I did like horse riding, but when it went too fast I felt like I was falling off.
in Cuba they grow a lot of tobacco here so they make a lot of caigar so mum,me and dad had a caigar i didn't like it at all so we went on our horse ride again.
this is a bike taxi it drives you to close places i thought it was cool but it can't go to far places.
This is my fast horse. It was really fast. On the horse ride, we stopped at a place to have coffee. I had my first coffee ever. I felt good at first after my coffee, but about thirty minutes later I felt weird and anxious. three hours later I felt good.
this is where I had my first coffee.i liked my first coffee and it had no milk.
this is where we stayed at the beach. The house was not that big, but our room was really huge - bugger than my bedroom.
This is my new glasses that I found on the beach. We got a horse taxi home. I liked the horse taxi's, because they are a bit faster than the bike taxi's and their not going too fast like cars. We saw a really lovely view on the ride home.
I loved Cuba. I did get sick, but I don't care about that anymore. The best thing about Cuba was that I got to see the old fashioned cars. I don't remember these cars from when I was three as they are too old. My grandpa remembers these cars. We had a lot of fun. We got to see Museums as well. The people are normal and really helpful. The food was normal. I ate just chicken, rice and beans. Its hot in Cuba, but people still where jeans and shirts. I didn't learn much Spanish, but i learnt how to count to ten, say hello and thankyou. Uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco, ses, sieta, ocho, nuevo?
This was a tree from magical kingdom. We went inside the tree, and it was a 4 D show. So we wore 3D glass, and then the seats moved, and robot spiders came out of the walls. It was cool.
This was a 60's old time machine and it was a spinning rollercoaster. it was fun.
This is main street at the magical kingdom. You can buy lots of stuff and there are lots of parades, marching bands and singing. It gets very crowded.
This was the worst ride for hugo and me. Its called Tea Party Madness and you spin really fast. We all felt sick afterwards. It was a worst ride.
I think this is main street at the Magical Kingdom. There was heaps of people there. We had to use fastpasses to get on a lot of rides, and book them in, otherwise you would have to wait a long time. Its thanksgiving week.
I got my future read. I will have a happy future with lots of laughter because I have a nice smile.
We wanted to got an American Fast food place - so we went to Waffle House. I had a waffle which was very yummy, but a bit too sweet because I put too much maple syrup on it.
when we left the Sahara we had a car trip to Fez in the half way of the trip we had some couscous and i had the most of the couscous. that couscous made me have diarrhea so we had to stay at home and i had a two hour sleep then the next day we got a guide to take us around Fez.
When I was going up and waiting for mum, I drew on the sand. I drew apples, a skull, a person and a stickmen. I had lots of rests, going uphill on a sand dune is tiring. We are in morocco - but the distance in the distance is another country called Algeria.
We spent the night in the desert. We slept in a tent. It was very cold. It was great sleeping out in the desert. We tried using a sled down the dunes but it didn't really work. Hugo liked the camels. He fell asleep on the camel.
this is a Moroccan school they learn math, Arabic, Islamic education, science, French, art history and geography. these kids only one class so theres one time for morning for young and afternoon for older kids.
after we went from the mountains
We flew to Marrakech, which is a city in Morocco. Morocco is in Africa. The houses are made out of mud. It was compressed. The people are very nice. But they are quite poor as well, so they like to also sell you things. The people are muslim mostly. They go to prey in mosque five times a day, from 6am to 8pm. The muslim people believe in Mohamed. And they believe in looking after family, love and peace. A lot of people here haven't gone to school, so they don't know how to read and write. I reckon it would be pretty hard not to read and write. They can't read comics and things that they like.
In Morocco, they have things called Tajines. Itoften meet and vegetables and the cook it in a strange shaped dish. It is really yummy, its really healthy too becuase of all the vegetables. They also eat a lot of bean soup. This is yummy too. I also like to eat couscous here. I love to eat couscous in Australia, so its so good to eat it here too. They eat a lot of dates - the dates a really sweet and juicy. They have walnuts as well. When you first taste them you hink its disgusting, but then they taste great. They come in a hardshell which I smash on the floor to open. I have enjoyed becuase its very yummy. They have really good sweets - but some aren't so great.
